Myspace to Sync with Facebook
Myspace have today announced a new function that will allow members to sync their Myspace status updates to their Facebook profiles and pages.
Since January MySpace users have been able to sync their updates with their Twitter account. Now it wants its users to join the stream of updates from the more than 500 million members who actively use Facebook.
Musicians and celebrities on MySpace can also use the integration to share content, such as albums, songs or photos, on their Facebook stream. Those who have liked an artist’s Facebook page can then be kept up to date with their content and information that is posted on MySpace.
Myspace’s Jennifer Ruffner states "This new sync functionality is part of an ongoing effort to make it simple for people to share their updates beyond MySpace and allow fans and friends to interact with that content across the Web."
Ever since Facebook appeared on the scene, MySpace has struggled to maintain its userbase. The current move is a clear indication that they have decided to eliminate rivalry with Facebook and instead work together. You know what they say, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
In July 2010 Myspace relaunched its profile pages to focus on a user’s news feed, similar to Facebook and the social platform is planning a full relaunch of the site later this year.
Google Enhances Its Real Time Search
Google have launched its own real time search engine which indexes and delivers messages posted on social networking and news sites.
The search engine giant started to incorporate real time links into its search results pages back in December 2009. In order to only view this type of result, users had to click on the fltering options in the left hand column of the page and choose the options labelled ‘latest’ and ‘updates.’ Now Google real time has its own web address at www.google.com/realtime which is for users who are specifically looking for this type of search result.

Google To Compete with Skype
Google has announced that they have added a low cost call feature to their Gmail email accounts which will allow people to directly call telephones from their computers. The service is free within the US and Canada and as little as 2 cents per minute to make calls overseas. Currently the service has only been rolled out to users in the US and Canada.
The latest move by Google puts them in direct rivalry with Skype, which also allows users to call telephones from their computers at low rates, as well as communicate with other Skype users online free of charge.
